Welcome Back,
I will discuss about the Humanware but pay more emphasis on careers in the Computer Field.

The Humanware are the people that uses the computer, they are the end users who uses the computer for productivity in their different fields. The are the computer operators, secretaries, doctors, lawyers, clerks, programmers etc. In fact all the people that computers are involved in one way or the other in the area of their work.

There is an important part of the computer humanware that I want to talk about, the computer  specialists and this will brings us to career in the computer field.

As we learn all these I believe it will help you kids in the choice of your career in future in the IT field.
Requirements
For you to have a career in Computer, you must have the following requirements
1. Minimum of 5 O level credit in English, Mathematics, Physics,  and any two from Chemistry/ Biology/ Economics/Geography. (Nigerians  only, check the equivalent in your own country's educational sites)

2. You must have finished a 4 year course in computer Science from any reputable university or polytechnic.

Welcome back kids,
Today we will be discussing about computer software in details.

A computer software is a collection of instructions that enables an end user to interact with the computer or have the computer perform specific tasks for them. Without software, the computer would be useless. For example, without your Internet browser software you would be unable to browse the Internet or read this page and without a software operating system the browser would not be able to run on your computer.

Software can be purchased at a local retail computer store and online in form of  disks  such as floppy diskette, CD, DVD, or Blu-ray required to install the program onto the computer, manuals, warranty, and other important documentation.
Software can also be downloaded to the computer over the Internet. Once downloaded the setup file can be run to start the installation of the program on your computer.

The computer software is divided into two types
1. System software
2. Application software

1. System Software
System software is a type of computer program that is designed to run a computer’s hardware and application programs. it is the interface between the hardware and user applications. The operating system  is the best-known example of system software. The OS manages all the other programs in a computer. other examples are utility programs, translators, compliers, etc

2. Application Software
Application software is a program or group of programs designed for end users. it is sometimes called app.  it also allows us to perform specific tasks. Applications for desktop or laptop computers are sometimes called desktop applications, and those for mobile devices are called mobile apps. When you open an application, it runs inside the operating system which is a system software until you close it. Examples of application software are word processors such as MS word, Spread sheet such as  MS Excel, Accounting Packages such as Peachtree etc.

Hello kids,
welcome to another lesson of computer for kids by CompuTeach Education Consult.
In the Last lesson, we discuss about the 3 groups of computer which are the hardware, software and humanware.
Today we will be discussing about the Hardware in details.

The computer Hardware is broadly divided into 4 groups;
1. The Input devicess
2. The Output devices
3. The Storage devices
4. The Processing Device

The Input Device
these are the devices or peripheral  (piece of computer hardware equipment) used to provide data and control signals to  a computer. Examples of input devices include keyboard, mouse, scanner, digital camera and joystick.

the output devices
Any peripheral or device that receives or displays output from a computer. An inkjet printer is an a good example of an output device that can make a hard copy of anything on a computer. other are
  •  monitor
  • plotter
  • projector
  • speaker

  • the storage devices
    also known as storage media, or storage medium, a storage device is a device capable of holding information. There are two storage devices used in computers; a primary storage  device such as computer RAM and a secondary storage  device such as a computer hardware. The secondary storage could be a removable, internal or external storage.

    processing device
    Processing devices in a computer are responsible for controlling the storage, processing and retrieval of information. The information is processed by the computer processor Central Processing Unit, which performs data calculations, data comparisons, and data copying with the information from the processing devices. The CPU then saves that information to the computer memory RAM.

    in our next lesson, we will discuss about Software in details

    Thursday, 20 March 2014

    In our last lesson, we discussed about the 3 groups of computer system which were;
    - the hardware
    - the software
    - the humanware

    today we will be discussing in details, the hardware, the software, the humanware.

    HARDWARE
    The hardware is the physical part of the computer we can see, touch and feel.
    It is divided into 4 groups;

    - Input devices: These are the devices that we use to put in meaningless raw data into the computer. Examples are Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick, Lightpen, digital camera, scanner, microphone,  Track ball etc.

    - Output devices: These are devices that we us to bring out meaningful information out of the computer.  examples are monitor, printer, headphone, plotter, projector,  speakers, etc.

    - Processing device: This is the device that processes the meaningless raw data into meaningful information. example system unit.

    - Storage devices: These are the devices  or medias that store already processed information for future use. examples are hard disk, floppy disk, Optical Disk, Magnetic tapes, etc.

    SOFTWARE
    Software is the part of computer we can see but cannot not touch nor feel. It is the instructions or programme that run in the system.

    The software is broadly divided into 2 groups;

    - System Software: These refers to the software that reside permanently within the computer system that activities other software and enable them to run. They provide the infrastructure over which other programs can operate, which means that they manage and control computer hardware so that the application software can perform. It basically makes system to work. examples are operating system, data communication software, device drivers, language translators, utility software etc.

    - Application Software: These are programmes developed and packages together for a specific purpose. examples are word processing packages, spread sheet, education package, desktop publishing, database management software, web applications packages, Presentation package etc.

    HUMANWARE

    Humanware  are the users that operates or use the computer systems. They are found in the offices, our home, schools etc. examples are computer operators, computer programmers, system analysts, network administrators, database administrator etc.

    A computer is an electronic machine that accepts meaningless raw data as input, processes it and bring out meaningful information as output.

    A computer system comprises of three main parts which are;
    1. Hardware - These are the physical part of the computer we can touch and feel example; mouse, keyboard, monitor, system unit, speakers etc.
    2. Software - These are the parts we can only see but cannot touch  or feel examples, system software, application software etc.
    3. Humanware- These are the users who use the computer examples; computer specialist, doctors, secretaries etc.
    Note: in our next lesson, we will be discussing about the main different parts of the computer in details. feel free to add your comments.
